Railway

We engineer assistance systems for rail transport based on tested and proven Bosch technology from the automotive sector. Our modular rail forward assist systems increase safety levels not only in the tram sector but also in rail local public transport, shunting operations, and for maintenance vehicles.

Mainline & urban forward assist

In the operation of commuter and regional trains as well as subways, our assistance system for train drivers monitors the vehicle surroundings and the platform area in a predictive manner.

Operational safety in regional and local transportation depends on many factors. Disruptions caused by objects in the track area or by accidents result in high repair costs, reduce the availability of the vehicle fleet, and leave the schedule in disarray. Our modular mainline and urban forward assist system supports and relieves the strain on train personnel thanks to its complete, uninterrupted monitoring of the area in front of the vehicles. The technology combines camera, radar, LiDAR, and ultrasonic systems of the latest generation and uses high-performance processors to handle the sensor data.

Sensor systems of the latest generation for greater operational safety:

  • Warning of obstacles in the track area
  • Warning of dangerous situations at train platforms
  • Braking assist for accurate stopping at stations
  • Signal detection assist
  • Greater safety in station areas
  • Higher operational safety during journeys
  • Fewer disruptions to operations due to missed signals or incorrect stopping at stations

Shunting forward assist

The shunting forward assist system supports and relieves the strain on personnel by monitoring the area in front of the vehicle in a predictive manner, which greatly increases safety levels during shunting operations.

Shunting service personnel face several demanding tasks: wagon groups need to be moved and individual cars have to be coupled and uncoupled. At the same time, they must remain aware of rail operations on parallel tracks. Our modular shunting forward assist system supports and relieves the strain on shunting personnel thanks to its complete, uninterrupted monitoring of the area in front of the shunting locomotive. The technology combines camera, radar, LiDAR, and optional ultrasonic systems of the latest generation and uses high-performance processors to handle the sensor data.

Greater safety during operation and for shunting personnel:

  • Warning of obstacles in the track area
  • Warning of potential collisions of passing vehicles with incorrectly parked wagons in rail switch areas
  • Coupling assist
  • Signal detection assist
  • Catenary assist for shunting locomotives with hybrid powertrain
  • Support and relief for shunting personnel thanks to improved situational awareness
  • Greater safety during shunting operations, fewer personal injuries, and less property damage
  • Avoidance of costly catenary damage

Maintenance vehicle forward assist

Construction measures on tracks or catenaries as well as maintenance work on the rail infrastructure usually involve persons working in the area of the tracks. Such situations require utmost attention and awareness of the personnel involved in the work.

Your maintenance personnel is under particular pressure to ensure both their own safety and operational reliability. In such cases, the maintenance vehicle forward assist system supports human perception with its monitoring of the environment. Our modular system ensures complete, uninterrupted monitoring of the area both in front of and in close proximity to the maintenance vehicles. The technology combines camera, radar, LiDAR, and optional ultrasonic systems of the latest generation and uses high-performance processors to handle the sensor data.
